BOOK CLUB RECOMMENCES

This year (2023-24) the researchers in SpirSoP, the spirituality research group of South East Technological University (SETU), Waterford, Ireland, which includes members of the trustees and advisory committee of SpIRE, have decided to study The Blue Sapphire of the Mind: Notes for a Contemplative Ecology by Doug Christie, in the light of the growing ecological crisis, “There are no sacred and unsacred places,” the poet Wendell Berry has written; “There are only sacred places and desecrated places”. What might it mean to behold the world with such depth and feeling that it is no longer possible to imagine it as something separate from ourselves, or to live without regard for its well-being?
