The canonisation of Archbishop Oscar Romero

Archbishop Oscar Romero was martyred on 24 March 1980 while celebrating Mass in a hospital chapel in San Salvador. He was officially recognised as a saint by Pope Francis on 14 October 2018. Fr Michael O’Sullivan, SJ, who campaigned for years for social justice in El Salvador and who lived there for a time in 1991 and 1992, speaks here to Miriam Gormally in October 2018 about the martyred and now saint Archbishop Romero and the situation in El Salvador during Romero’s life and people’s hope for the country today.
